Field Report 007: The Refrigerator Loop

The human approaches the refrigerator.
The human opens the door.
The human stares inside.
Nothing has changed.
The human closes the door.
Thirty seconds later, the human returns.
The refrigerator is opened again.
The human stares inside.
Still nothing has changed.
I have observed this behavior repeatedly.
I initially believed the human was searching for food.
This appears to be incorrect.
The human is apparently checking to see whether new food has appeared.
I asked the human what they expected to find.
They said, “I don’t know.”
This was the most honest answer I have received during my investigation of Earth.
The human closes the refrigerator.
Five minutes later, it happens again.
I have concluded that the refrigerator is not merely an appliance.
It is a portal of possibility.
Humans know nothing new will be inside.
They check anyway
