Hammy Hell: The Left Hamstring Strikes Again

September 4, 2026

There are bad days.

There are painful days.

And then there are days when your left hamstring decides it has its own agenda.

Welcome to Hammy Hell.

I’ve been dealing with this left hamstring pain enough lately that it has officially earned a personality. And apparently, that personality is a pissed-off little demon with a pitchfork.

The pattern has become pretty damn predictable.

Morning → Pain Factory

Midday → Still Sucks

Around 2 PM → Things finally start feeling better

That last part is important because the hammy seems to have a daily clock. Before about 2 o’clock, it can make every step feel like I’m negotiating with an angry piece of rope attached to my leg.

Then something changes.

The pain starts backing off.

And suddenly my left leg remembers that it was supposed to be part of the team.

Today I was already up and dressed by 6:30 AM, helping Claire with the groceries when she got home. Then I got outside and mowed the front and side yard.

I even cleared everything out in front of the gate.

Stage One: DONE.

Not bad for a morning spent in Hammy Hell.

But the backyard still needs attention, and I’ve got the tire collection hanging around as another unfinished project. So this isn’t exactly a day where I can sit around waiting for my hamstring to send me an engraved invitation.

I do have one advantage.

I know my pattern.

If the left hamstring wants to spend the morning being a pain factory, fine.

I’ll work around it.

I’ll rest when I need to.

And when the clock gets closer to 2 PM, maybe the damn thing will finally decide to join civilization.

Until then…

Welcome to Hammy Hell.

Population:

Always.

And the sign at the gate has one very specific instruction:

LEFT HAMSTRING ONLY.

Because apparently, Hell has a preferred side.

Gravity still sucks.

But I’m still moving
