A Full-Circle Visit to LivWell DTC

Today I made a pretty interesting cannabis pilgrimage.

I stopped at LivWell’s Denver Tech Center location on Belleview, and the whole experience ended up being more meaningful than I expected.

I remember reading about LivWell years ago, back in the early days of Colorado’s legal cannabis industry. I originally remember it as being around 2014, although it may actually have been closer to 2017. There was a cannabis recall involving LivWell that stuck in my memory.

I’m not going to pretend I know the exact year. The memory is there, but the calendar is a little fuzzier. I want to dig into the old Colorado recall records and see if we can identify exactly what happened.

This Blue Dream Is Awesome

I picked up an eighth of Craft Shelf Canna Club Blue Dream, and this stuff immediately brought something back.

This is awesome old-school weed.

And I’ve got the weight in writing: 3.6 grams.

So this wasn’t some barely-there eighth that mysteriously comes up light. I walked out with 3.6 grams of Blue Dream.

There’s something wonderfully familiar about this flower. After years of increasingly complicated cannabis genetics, crosses upon crosses, and strain names that sometimes require a family tree to understand, there’s something refreshing about getting into some good old-school Blue Dream.

It reminds me why strains like Blue Dream became staples in the first place.

This one is awesome.

And that’s probably the biggest discovery of today’s trip.

I went into LivWell thinking about the history of the company.

I came out thinking about Blue Dream.

A Pretty Damn Good Budtender

The budtender who helped me was about my age.

That made the whole experience feel a little different. We were both old enough to remember when Colorado cannabis was a very different animal.

He also gave me the 15% discount on my purchase without me having to ask .

The receipt shows the Blue Dream and an OG Kush cartridge, with the discount applied to the purchase.

The pre-discount subtotal was $28.51.

The 15% discount took $4.28 off, bringing the subtotal down to $24.23.

After taxes, the total came to $30.62.

I handed him $31 cash and got forty cents back.

Not bad for a Tuesday afternoon cannabis expedition.

The Full-Circle Part

What makes this visit memorable isn’t really just what I bought.

It’s the timeline.

I remember LivWell from the early days of Colorado’s legal cannabis industry. I watched the industry grow, changed along with it, and spent years involved with cannabis cultivation.

The guys I used to grow for were massive in their day. LivWell has grown into a major Colorado cannabis operation, too.

And today, years after I first remember hearing about LivWell, I walked into their DTC store and met a budtender about my age.

Then I walked out with 3.6 grams of old-school Blue Dream.

That’s a pretty damn good full-circle moment.

Sometimes you don’t realize how much an industry has changed until you walk back into it years later.

And sometimes you walk back into it and discover that the old-school stuff can still bring it.
