What is something you used to take for granted that you appreciate much more now?
Breathing.
I used to take breathing completely for granted. You breathe in, you breathe out, and you don’t give it another thought. It’s just something your body does.
But disability has a way of changing your perspective on things you once considered automatic. Disability sucks. It makes you appreciate the basic things that you never thought twice about before.
Taking a breath is one of them.
Sometimes the things we appreciate most aren’t the big accomplishments or exciting moments. They’re the things that are happening quietly in the background every second of every day.
Inhale.
Exhale.
Still here.
