The Georgetown Expedition Is Over. Now Leave Me Alone. 🎃

We did it!

Claire and I took our weekend drive through Georgetown, over Guanella Pass, and back home to Castle Rock via Highway 285.

Beautiful Colorado scenery, historic mountain towns, winding roads, and plenty of reasons to stop and look around.

Another Colorado adventure checked off the list.

And I’m glad we finally did it. The trip was starting to become a thing. You know how that goes. First you talk about taking a drive, then you research destinations, then you investigate roads, history, weather, and sightseeing stops.

Before you know it, the planning becomes bigger than the actual adventure.

I hate it when that happens.

But we got out there, enjoyed the drive, and made it home.

Halloween Dinner: Pizza Wins

We finished the evening at Old Stone Church for Halloween dinner. Pizza Works was yum!

A good meal after a day on the road. Can’t complain about that.

Now, About That Doorbell…

Here’s where things get serious.

I hope everybody stays away from my doorbell tonight.

Yes, I’m old.

Yes, I’m grumpy.

And no, I’m not particularly interested in handing out candy or entertaining a parade of little ghosts, goblins, and neighborhood visitors.

I’ve had my adventure. I’ve had my pizza. I’m home.

The porch light can go off. The candy department is closed. Management has left the building.

Missy can handle neighborhood security.

Final Halloween Field Report:

  • Georgetown: Visited.
  • Guanella Pass: Conquered.
  • Highway 285: Completed.
  • Halloween dinner: Delicious.
  • Road-trip planning: Officially retired.
  • Doorbell: Please remain silent.

Sometimes the best part of an adventure is getting home, kicking back, and saying:

“Well, we did that. Now leave me alone.”

Happy Halloween!
